  1. I do believe that low orbit transportation will be a viable method in the future, for as the world advances and as open trade and communication improve between countries it will only be a matter of time before people are living in the U.S. and working in Switzerland. I think it would be a major advance in technology and in the ability to deliver goods worldwide. Of the inventions listed I believe the space craft was a huge advancemend in many technologies, because it lead to better materials, the new metals used in creating the spacecraft as well as the aerodynamics would later help improve everything from fire retardant clothing to cars and planes that would follow, and I believe has had a bigger impact on many technologies than most people realize.

    1. The spacecraft definitely did evolve other things around. It will be crazy to see the transportation advances later on in life.

    2. I think that the low orbit transportation will be an awesome thing once they work everything out for it. It would help a lot of people that work in a field where they have to travel all over.

    3. Time is definitely a big factor in how usable low orbit transportation will be, but once we get there it will be very useful.

    4. I think it will be interesting to see what is done with low orbit transportation. The biggest thing they will need to work on is the cost. If they cut that down it will become exactly as you stated.

  2. I think the underwater transportation is sketchy. It is an efficient way to get around, but I feel anything can go wrong, just like any other type of transportation of course. Either way, I will stick with transportation that is above ground.
The Hypersonic Spaceliner seems like a very advanced form of travel, and something that could definitely happen. Anything is possible and even though the Spaceliner would be expensive, the more common it would become in future generations, the cheaper and more reliable as well. I think the most worthwhile invention was the airplane. Mostly because I know more about it than any of the other inventions, but also because planes are used way more often than some of the other inventions listed and have a variety of uses from toy to real life.

    1. Yeah the whole under the water transportation thing really scares me. The ways of transportation now a days are crazy.

    2. I agree with you that the under water transportation is scary, I can only think about all the things that could go wrong with it!! It is amazing to me the things that the world is coming up with now days!!

    3. I would have to agree with all of you. Underwater transportation is sketchy! I would feel like I was going to drown every time I did it.

    4. I understand where you guys feel uncomfortable with the idea of underwater travel, but I still think it would be really cool to see it in action. I would double check every safety feature before hand though.

  3. The whole transportation under the water worries me. They say that it can withstand 9.0 magnitude, but nothing is a sure thing. It is a good idea with their reasoning of so many people traveling between the two places everyday. In all honesty I do not think the Spaceliner will ever happen. The Spaceliner might happen in a long time from now, but by 2050 I still think they will not have it ready. Being able to affect buildings below them if they are not high enough is sketchy. Anything is possible though. I thought the hovercraft was one of the neatest inventions just by how the thought came up. Using a cat food can and a tin can is crazy.

    1. I agree with your thoughts about the Spaceliner, and even if they do get it ready by 2050, they will still have to do test runs and who knows how long that would take!

    2. I say forgot the space liner and focus on hoover cars and hooverboards!

    3. I agree, under water transportation is a scary thing to think about.

  4. I think that the under water transportation is kind of a very scary thing. It really scares me to think of all the things that could go wrong. I think that it is a great idea to look more into and secure the little things. As for me I think I will rather keep the normal ways of transportation. I think that the space ship thing was really cool and a great idea that would be awesome if they could ever make it happen. I don't know if anything could ever come of it. I think that it would a good idea but would be something that would take a lot of time and money. I think it could benefit a lot of people if they could ever make it happen. I think that everything that those articles have been talking about could benefit the world in the future and make it a better and easier place for working people.

    3. Yup, I agree with you on the under water transportation being scary.

  5. I really like the idea of sub orbital rocket flights. When applying this type of transportation to emergency medical it could save thousands of lives. As for it becoming a commonly used method of transport, I don't see it happening with out major advancements in the engines and the fuel usage. It just wont be affordable.
I am just looking forward to Virgin Galactic. Its too bad that the government cut the funding to the NASA program, but maybe it's best for the private sector to get their hands in the mess.

    1. I never thought of how the SpaceLiner could affect medical transport, but I agree it would be a huge benefit and potentially save many lives. Great point!

      Delete
    2. I hadn't thought of the medical implications but this could greatly help advance specialized hospitals, diseases in other countries that can only be properly treated in one or two medical facilities; patients could now be flown to proper medical facilities, my only concern being the force of getting into low orbit being too hard on weaker patients.

  6. Underwater transportation is something that I would be very hesitant to do. It is an incredible feat but it is safe to say that I won't be trying this any day soon!
The rocket travel really interests me. I think that it is so awesome that they are developing this type of travel. I thought it was so cool that you could travel to another continent in less than two hours. That is like driving to Minot! The one thing that I would love to see is that they find some way to make these methods of transportation more affordable for average people. I think that it would be awesome if they could continue to develop this technology and perfect it to where it is as common as getting in the car to go drive somewhere.

    1. I agree- the underwater tunnel sounds a little scary, I would be very hesitant to try it as well! It would be amazing if the SpaceLiner became a thing and was made more affordable for everyone to use. I would love to try that.

    2. It would be cool if all these technologies are as common and affordable as getting in the car.

    3. You are right, if they can make these transportations as cheap as other means of getting around this advancement in innovation will be amazing

      Delete
    4. agreed with the under water travel especially between two continents

      Delete
    5. I think the underwater tunnel would be cool just because of the fact you're underwater! there's already an underwater system between Oakland and San Fran and I thought it was a very efficient way to go from one place to another

      Delete
    6. I agree with you. The Space Liner is a really cool and amazing idea, but I doubt they would make it affordable for everyone. If they ever did though, I would love to try it myself someday.

  7. Turkey's Marmaray Tunnel was interesting to read about and it's exciting that they accomplished such a big project, but travelling 47 miles in an underwater tunnel sounds a little scary to me. Also the fact that there were electrical problems during its first run does not seem to bode well for this project.
The SpaceLiner sounds really cool. It would be amazing to travel around the world in such a short time! The high cost would be a big deterrent, but hopefully as the technology progresses this kind of travel could become more affordable so that more people could use it.
I think the most worthwhile invention on the quiz was the airplane. While we have been able to travel on the ground in various ways for a long time, the airplane was the first invention that gave us the ability to travel through the air, which was such a feat because we can travel by ourselves on land and water by walking and swimming, but there is no way we can travel through the air by ourselves.

    1. I agree that low-orbit transportation will be very expensive, but like all things, as it becomes more popular or more mainstream, the cost of making it an effective means of travel will become less and less.

    2. I agree with you on the Spaceliner being high cost, and it will make us take longer then we expect before it is an actual option for travel.

      Delete
    3. I would have to agree with all of this, especially the importance of the airplane. We've had the dream of flying for centuries but when the Wright brothers achieved this they pushed our technology and changed the way we look at travel.

    4. I agree with your statement about the use of airplanes and always wanting to be flying like other creatures. Nicely done

  8. The Marmaray Train Tunnel that is said to connect nations and countries is unique. It’s definitely a good way to get around and experience other countries. The only question left is, is this method of transportation safe?
The SpaceLiner is interesting but something that travels that fast could be a lot dangerous. Launching like a rocket rather than taking off like an aircraft sounds scary. This could definitely happen in the future and if I’m still alive to witness it, I wouldn't get on it; I don’t think it’s safe.
I think the most worthwhile invention was the automobile. Now days almost everyone owns a car and it’s affordable. All these inventions are great ways of transportation but if it’s not safe, it wouldn't benefit anyone.

  9. That underground tunnel seems like a huge project, but I think it also gives the people who need to cross to the other side of Istanbul an advantage. I think eventually something like the Spaceliner will be an option for travel, but honestly i don't think it is going to be very soon. I definitely think the most worthwhile invention was the first gasoline powered automobile because it has caused such a large impact on how we function on a daily basis.

  10. I hope that this technology is able to work safely and efficiently in the future. I think that this is a very innovative idea that would be able to excite many people throughout the world and get a lot of hype. This would make international communication a lot easier between many countries. If this becomes a reality I will be one of many to try it.
PS It's before 12 here! GOOD LUCK ALL

  11. The invention that seems like the most important to me is still is the gas powered automobile. That changed the way for the future, what would we do without our cars. Yes they would have been developed later down the road but would the advancements be just as fast to keep up with the ever growing society.

The tunnel is a great idea, who doesn't like the sound of safe, fast and easy transportation. Is this technology truly available yet because it seems that this is what is being held back right now. Seeing as it is underground you wonder about the project size and how long will it truly take to build. No matter what that is a great idea.

    1. I like the tunnel idea too Starky. I think that it's an efficient and cool way to be able to travel large distances!

    2. I agree that travel traveling underwater would be an interesting and exciting way to travel.

  12. I think the tunnel is really cool and is the beginning of many soon to come tunnels of the same caliber. I just have a feeling there is going to be a lot of problems associated with it for the next couple years.

The rocket plane glider does not seem practical or likely to be an everyday use. I feel like it will get invented but only for the purpose of saying that it has been done. No one can afford to spend several hundred thousand dollars to fly across the earth on a regular basis.

6 out of 10 I am a high flyer, probably the most worth while invention to me would be the gas powered car, as it is one of the most used inventions in the world. if only that guy knew what he had invented.

    1. I agree with them having problems. I am a very cautious person and would rather both ideas be tested and built thuroughly.

    2. I also agree with the belief that they'll have problems. In the end I don't have any plans to experience any of these means of transportation.

  13. I think both the Marmaray train and the Spaceliner are awesome ideas, but I'm not sure i would use either.I get motion sickness and i hate heights. Sorry but I'm short and being too far away from the ground freaks me out. And the train... um i would rather not be buried alive if something went wrong.

I obviously don't know as much as I should about transportation advancements. I am a high flyer according to the test, I scored a six out of ten.To me the most important invention was the car. if only that person could see today what had become of his invention he would be amazed.

  14. I think that the underwater transportation was something to really look into. There are a lot of things that could go wrong that could end in worse factors then a normal car or transportation above ground just because of the fact that you are under water. I also think that the Hypersonic Space liner seems like an advanced form of travel. I know that it will definitely be an expense to a lot, but the more popular it becomes the cheaper it should become as well. I think the most useful invention was the airplane. Planes are used way more often and are more known around the world as a way of transportation from one place to another.

  15. I think that the idea of underwater water travel is both exciting and also an uneasy idea. I think that it would be exciting because it adds yet another way to get around the world. I think that it can also be uneasy with a lot of people because of all the things that could go wrong.
The Space Liner sounds like another interesting idea. This is something that I would definitely like to try if it was built in my life time. I think that this would be the same as flight travel only better. The would help get you places faster but probably not cheaper.

  16. I think building the tunnel was a creative idea even though it had a power outage it is something i would want to experience. I dont think that they will use the rocket space liner i think it is an interesting idea. It would get you to your destination quick though and a lot of people would definitely love that.

    1. I agree. If I were the one experiencing a power outage in that situation I'd be panicking really badly. Though getting places quickly is always a nice thing at times.

  17. Building the tunnel was a brilliant idea when it had a power outage i just feel not a good idea because what if another power outage happen again then it could be dangerous. I also dont think they would use rocket space liner although it would get you from point A to point B i just feel it needs more time.

  18. I think that crossing from Asia to Europe in just four minutes is a fantastic idea. Also, I think that the Marmaray tunnel is going to improve the relationships between those two continents, and people will make more businesses in less time. I am sure that the engineers from Japan ad Turkey made an excellent job building this undersea tunnel. I believe that the hypersonic spaceliner it will become reality in the near future because the aviation technology has advanced a lot in the past 20 years. However, I think it would be very expensive to travel in one of these planes. My favorite inventions are the airplanes, cars, and robots.

  19. I never realized just how many people were in need of transportation in Istanbul. That being said, I think it is awesome that they were able to create such a grand train to assist in transportation for most of that population.
As for the Space Liner, I think the idea is very cool and definitely an interesting idea, but I am not sure how likely it is that it would get used as much as they would like it to be. I know that there are some people who would be willing to pay that much for that kind of transportation, but I don't think there would be enough to pay for their predicted 10-15 flight per day.
I thought the most interesting invention was the hovercraft.

  20. I am surprised at the problems Istanbul faces when it comes to transportation. The thought of taking a train under water scares me greatly. I doubt I could ever use it. The space liner would be interesting to see, however I wouldn’t trust my life to it. I’m perfectly capable with my feet planted here on Earth. I feel like the submarine was a worthwhile invention that has started the exploration of the oceans. Even though our knowledge of the Earth’s waters is limited knowing there is more out there to be seen is a great feeling.

  21. it was a good idea to build a way of transportation like that and its an easy, fast and less expensive way to get around the world but its also dangerous at the same time if there are power outages like that because you never know what would happen on a trip anything could happen. all im saying is that people need to get from place to place they dont need anything slowing them down soo if they could fix there problems everyone will be happy.

  22. I do not think I would ever use that transportation because it is under water. Actually the thought of it scares me. It's great that they are thinking of ways to handle their busy traffic. It sounds like they had a bad start to the whole process but hopefully everything will be fine from now on, including the power outages, earthquakes, and the fact that it is under water.
As for the Spaceliner, all I could think of when I was reading the article is how much fuel that will need. It sounds like a far stretch just for travel. 2050 sounds far away but for something like this it seems too soon. I feel like this is dangerous, expensive, and I just wonder if it's worth it.
I think either the vehicle or the airplane was the most worthwhile invention.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think that there are way too many horrible things that could go wrong with underwater travel. They have a lot of "bugs" that would have to be removed before I would get anywhere near something like that.
I think the space liner is an awesome idea! I would love to see how it would all pan out and it would be expensive but it may bring the right outcome.
My favorite or the best invention in my opinion is the airplane. There is so many more things we are capable of now all because of this invention.
